CAGE CLAMP®
The CAGE CLAMP® is the internationally known trademark of the cage clamp spring pressure connection system which was first introduced in 1977.It is a universal clamping system for solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors with rated cross sections from AWG 28 to 2 (0.08 mm² to 35 mm²).
The clamping unit also consists of only two elements: the cage clamp and the current bar. These two form a self-contained contact unit, which does not transfer any load to the insulation housing. The CAGE CLAMP® is made of high-quality chrome nickel spring steel. The current bar consists of electrolytic copper and has a mixed tin surface.
Irrespective of the type of conductor, the CAGE CLAMP® has to be opened using a screwdriver to introduce the conductor. After the conductor has been inserted into the clamping unit and the spring been released, the conductor is clamped safely in a defined contact zone with a pre-programmed cross section-adequate clamping force. Other than with screw clamp systems, this spring clamp system rules out the possibility that a conductor is inserted into the clamping unit but not secured.
